On Wednesday May 17, 2017, South Central LAMP and First Republic Bank hosted the 4th Annual “Person of the Year” fundraiser at the First Republic Bank in downtown Los Angeles.
Sister Yolanda Vega, Sisters of Social Service, was honored for her years of dedication and commitment to South Central LAMP. One of the charisms of the Sisters of Social Service is the “promotion of social justice, especially on behalf of the family, women and children, the poor and the alienated.”
In addition, this year we honored our first Institutional Honoree, Friars Charitable Foundation, who supports the summer program every year for the women and children. Camp LAMP is a great opportunity for the families to explore away from their neighborhood and discover new places where they can learn and have fun simultaneously. The award was received by their President, Marilyn Stambler and a member of their board, Linda Schwartz. Marilyn oversees grants to arts, education and human services charities serving Los Angeles County. She has dedicated her career to the not for profit community and has placed special emphasis on bringing the arts to students.
Thank you to all who were able to join us on this special day. We hope you enjoyed learning more about our mission and the work we do to better the lives of the families in the South Central Los Angeles community.
