“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead
Dear South Central LAMP community,
I have witnessed some truly incredible human moments in my life and our Thanksgiving Food Drive was one of those moments—made possible all because of you.
In past years, our food drive allowed us to distribute around 100 grocery bags to the families we serve across all programs. This year because of the outpouring of aid, we gave out over 375 grocery bags. This extraordinary number of donations allows us to not only make bigger food bags but also reach more community members.
It’s incredible to see what we did! But your donations did something more than give families food, it showed us that in a time when things have been very heavy, the human spirit knows how to resist best.
I can tell you we absolutely did that when we supported community with food and essentials. Along with those grocery bags, we also gave out 100 turkeys thanks to a donation from our Councilman’s office (Councilman Price), to the families we serve!
The joy I heard in the families receiving this food was just so infectious. Not just to me, but to our entire staff as well! Most of us are weighed down by this administration’s continuous assault on the most vulnerable populations. But being witness to all the food in our breakroom was like feeling a huge hug from those that gave. It reminded us that we are not alone, that people stand with us and our families.
Thank you for walking with us on this journey we call life. May your Thanksgiving be rich in love, gratitude, and the collective spirit that strengthens our families.
Gratefully,
Diana Z. Pinto
